An awesome little restaurant up in the direction of Brisbane Street in William, Manise seems wonderful East Indonesian meals. It is a small area and highly regarded – in addition to the printed menu there are black boarded day by day specials that are value making an attempt out.
Unlicensed, however they’re comfortable to accommodate wine drinkers with glasses readily provided – and with the current opening of Wines of While proper throughout the street you’ve an amazing selection of fascinating and totally different wines to convey together with you – as we did with a reasonably good rosé – White is Rosé – French from pure and natural winemaker Gregory White – created from Cinsault it has a perfumed nostril of strawberries and flowers; dry palate, lingering end; good with spicy meals, we discovered.
Anyway, once we dropped by Manise through the week, we had already had a few snacks throughout the street at Wines of While so determined this time to forgo the starters and seize a few mains.
One of the day’s specials appealed – hen pores and skin satay – skewers of hen with pores and skin, slathered in a peanutty and chilli sauce, with accompanying cucumber and steamed rice was spot on. Delightful dish of succulent chook and authentically flavoured sauce.
Then certainly one of their wonderful fish dishes – Ikan Bakar Ambon – an entire fish, grilled and butterflied. On the aspect a bitter/candy/spicy sauce to go together with the steamed rice. The fish was crispy, juicy, tender– spot on.
A warmer house made chilli sauce is on the market on the desk for many who like a bit of extra kick and it does ship one!
Great service – pleasant and welcoming; excellent meals at amazingly low costs; and now with a wine bar/shop throughout the street – what’s to not like? Definitely get alongside and check out them out.
