We dropped into Refuge every week in the past after leaving Unwined and whereas ready for a practice – and the bar is completely located for that being proper alongside and above Subiaco station.
There is all the time one thing fascinating to drink on the wine record and on this event a glass of Snake and Herring Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River and a French rosé – Domaine de Ponteveze have been our decisions.
The rosé had basic strawberry and rose petal aromas, with a mushy and savoury palate, whereas the pink had a bouquet of plums, blackberries and mint, adopted by a juicy wealthy palate of mulberries and blackcurrants.
We didn’t want any meals however famous the menu has been up to date since our final go to with a variety of bar snacks on supply – empanadas, meatballs, wings, poppers and the like – fairly good companions to a glass of wine or beer – the latter of which they’ve a positive array.
One of those caught my eye – Flaming Lamington from Nail – that I needed to attempt – a really fascinating drop certainly – a chocolate stout, with a pleasant fringe of bitterness, and flavoured with coffee, coconut and a ending sprint of chilli to spice issues up!
By this time our practice was little question arriving so we made our departure – however will return considerably sooner between visits – a pleasing little wine record, good beer choices, and the meals sounds a great match for the drinks.
