Now that sunny days have reappeared so has Little Vines – on weekends it’s open for breakfast and lunch underneath the vines in dappled daylight and we’ve got been alongside a pair of occasions prior to now two weeks. A brand new menu has additionally made an look and every dish we’ve tried has been excellent certainly.
On Sunday, sitting up on the deck overlooking the lawns operating down in the direction of the river, warmed by the solar it was a fantastic setting for a lazy lunch – and lots of others had the identical concept – I might assume reserving could also be wanted if you wish to ensure you will get a desk.
A dish of warmed Esperance sardines, marinated in lemon and oil, pepped up with a sprinkle of dried chilli rounds on charred sourdough started proceedings. The oily, salty fish flavours reduce via by the zestiness of the chilli to make for an excellent little starter.
Next – Cajun pork croquettes served with Granny Smith apple salad and with a really spicy tomato and chilli relish enlivened the palate – the croquettes juicy and succulent, the relish zesty certainly, whereas the apple salad cooled issues down a tad.
Then a superb plate of grilled Albany asparagus with house smoked ricotta, crisped shallots and dehydrated olives. The smoked ricotta has taken on a golden hue and is splendidly creamy and salty and smoky and complemented the crisp, crunchy simply cooked asparagus. The little salty nuggets of dehydrated olives added a textural and flavour hit, as did the mound of fried, crisped shallots – fabulous.
I had the smoked ricotta the earlier week with artichokes recent from their backyard and it was equally spectacular.
The wine listing showcases wines of the Swan Valley – together with a pair from down south – and we caught to the superb Small Batch rosé from Houghton by the glass – crisp, dry and stylish with flavours of pomegranates and raspberries. A positive rosé for a sunny day.
Once once more a lunch to recollect at Little Vines – on such days as we’re experiencing now and hopefully onwards to Christmas, that is the right spot for sitting again and enjoyable with a glass of wine, beer or cider with meals that simply nails the environment.
