KL’s River Of Life, listed as world’s top 10 Waterfront Districts

KUALA LUMPUR: The River of Life (ROL) right here has been listed in world’s top 10 Waterfront Districts by the Independent, United Kingdom’s on-line information portal, lately.

The portal highlighted that regardless that the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) is surrounded with shiny luxurious lodges, the historic space close to the gorgeous Masjid Jamek mosque is probably the most thrilling one.

“This vibrant chunk of the town centre sits on the banks of the Klang River which is the main target of River of Life, a regeneration venture described as probably the most costly city river restoration tasks ever undertaken.

“But it has paid off … as we speak, there are riverside cafes, hi-tech fountains, bicycle paths and nighttime mild present which turns the water into beautiful cobalt blue,” it stated.

The ROL challenge was aimed toward reviving the Klang River and Gombak River inside the metropolis and reworking the banks into waterfront areas with financial and business worth by way of river cleansing, beautification and land improvement.

The first part of the river beautification for Precinct 7 of the ROL venture includes historic websites like Dataran Merdeka, Jamek Mosque and Central Market that are on the confluence of the 2 rivers.

Other waterfronts which made it into the top 10 lists have been Shibuya Stream in Tokyo, Japan, Holzmarkt (Berlin, Germany), Tampa Riverwalk (Florida, US), Seaport District (New York, US), Elizabeth Quay (Perth, Australia), Clarke Quay (Singapore), Charoen Krung (Thailand), Sugar Beach (Canada) and Victoria Dockside (Hong Kong). — Bernama
