A brand new Vietnamese restaurant has opened in William Street specializing in pho, however with a variety of different dishes. It is a small place, and once we dropped in for lunch appeared to be highly regarded for such a brand new spot, which bodes properly for the standard of the meals.
We began with three of the entrées on supply – deep fried oysters, deep fried squid, and combined seafood spring rolls. The oysters with a crisp coat have been juicy and salty, got here with a small inexperienced salad and tartare sauce for dipping.
Similarly the squid was properly crisped, cooked to an al dente state, pleasantly agency to the chew – once more with greens and a creamy dipping sauce.
The third – the spring rolls – was decide of the bunch – crisp, crackly pastry encasing a chopped seafood combine – properly seasoned – and with delicate chilli dipping sauce. Very good.
Onto the mains – for me a dried noodle dish, for my eating chum, a noodle soup
Mine, Hù tiêu mì dô biên – noodles with a mixture of prawns, fish balls, squid and fish items – the seafood properly cooked and juicy, the noodles slippery and agency, coriander scattered over – very nice, mild dish.
And then – Bún giò neo – rice vermicelli noodle soup with pork hock on the bone and a salty, mildly spiced soup to take in all the myriad Vietnamese flavours. Again an excellent high quality dish.
Sup So Good has opened with a flourish attracting good crowds from what we noticed, and the meals is recent, properly cooked, filled with all of the attribute Vietnamese flavours and aromatics – and really nicely priced, too.
